Where did Cooch come from?
While working at UPS in 1987, a fellow employee, John O'Flaherty (aka Dirtbag), told me he would have a nickname for me by the end of the day. So...by the end of the day he came up with Cooch. I asked, "what the hell is that?". He told me it was a High School wrestler in the movie Vision Quest (which starred Matthew Modine and featured Madonna). Kuch (found out the correct spelling many years later) had a mohawk, which was strange since I had one before meeting John. Anyway, I blew off the idea of this nickname until I started going out to clubs with John and his friends, where I was introduced as Cooch. This nickname somehow carried over to my friends, coworkers, and family. I gave in to it and became known around the world as Cooch. |
